Manjar blanco

Señoras y señores, el dulce esta listo !
During my last visit to Cali Colombia, i was invited to assist to the preparation of this delicious sweet. Manjar blanco (arequipe) took a long time to be ready, but it worth it all the way. The smiling lady, was strictly supervising the process, very careful on timing and ingredients. At the end there was a lunch for everyone, and of course manjar blanco for everyone.

Morning light

dessert anyone ?


then one of you best choices is tiramisu. Serve this dessert on your table and get an applaud !
Cheese and chocolate meet together to create this heavenly tasting sweet.
But enough with words, just let's make it !!



Ingredients
280gr mascarpone cheese
40gr sugar
2 eggs
180gr very strong coffee
100-120 ml Kahlua (coffee liqueur)
20 LadyFingers (Savoiardi)
cocoa powder


Put egg yolks, mascarpone and sugar in a bowl and gently beat well together.
Beat in a separate bowl the egg whites until stiff and when done, fold them into the mascarpone mixture until evenly incorporated.
In the meanwhile prepare the coffee and mix with the Kahlua into a bowl.
Spread some of the mascarpone mixture to cover the bottom of a large 22cm (9 inches) bowl or individual container.
Dip some ladyfingers into the coffee mix for some seconds (10-12 secs), turning them over until they absorbe liquid and still retain their shape.
Place them side by side in the bowl. Cover with mascarpone mixture. Continue by making another layer of ladyfingers and again
cover with a mascarpone mixture layer.
Smooth the surface of the last mascarpone layer and sift cocoa powder to cover all the surface. You are almost done !
Cover and chill in refrigarator at least for 5 hours, or overnight.
Serve well chilled and enjoy !
